Thieves Target Gold Jewelry

The price of gold hit a record high of over $ 1,800 an ounce.

While investors are looking for a more reliable way of protecting their finances, the thieves have begun to increase the value of an opportunity to get rich.

In some cases, the thieves snatch jewels just a random person.

California has experienced an increase in gold-related smash and grab robbery and assault-street.

The police come to community events and to warn people to stop wearing gold in public.

The authorities say the crimes are difficult to solve, because after the criminals have stolen jewelry, sell it immediately, so there is no evidence.

Wendy Kurtz, or the port, was shocked to hear that thieves are ripping right out of people.

"I think it's terrible that take advantage of market conditions, people flee to gold as a haven for their money," said Kurtz.

Channel 4, Crime Analyst Ken Jefferson said the use of gold at times is probably fine, but use every day in the city may not be the best idea.

"You have to take a decision whether to use or leave it. Depending on where you're going, you may need to leave, just to be safe," said Jefferson.
