National Museum Of Italian Jewelry With Radiant

An exhibition of jewelry designed by Italian luxury brand Bulgari is being brought to the public via China's National Museum in Beijing from September 4 to November 3. The BVLGARI Retrospective Exhibition showcases about 600 pieces of classical jewelry design from the company which have been previously displayed in Rome in 2009 and Paris in 2010. This is the first time that the exhibit has toured outside of Europe.

The exhibited items include accessories, watches and other ornamental creations. The oldest piece among the collection was made by Bulagri's founder Sotirio Bulgari, dating back to the late nineteenth century. Born in Greece, the young silversmith Sotirio Bulgari moved to Rome in 1881. He soon established himself as a master of jewelry design in the late Ottoman Empire. His sons, and the following cohort of jewelry designers at Bulgari, inherited and adopted his sumptuous style in producing jewelry, which over time came to represent the brand's trademark characteristics of being bold and creative in color and design.

The exhibition is arranged in chronological order, along with illustrations and the stories behind the making of the exhibited items. A special section of the exhibition is dedicated to a number of pieces of milestone significance for the company's history. The exhibition also includes a collection of profiles and historical documentaries on the key designers, celebrity customers of the company, and a succession of films in which the company's products were frequently featured. Among the star studded lineup of actresses who have donned Bulgari jewelry during their big screen performances are Romy Schneider, Ingrid Bergman and Sophia Loren.

Multi-language exhibition brochures are available at the National Museum. The museum opens from Tuesday to Sunday (opening hours: 9:00 - 17:00). Admission to the museum is free but entrance tickets for special exhibitions such as the BVLGARI Retrospective Exhibition are priced at ten yuan per person.
